{"id":292803,"date":"2017-02-10T15:00:18","date_gmt":"2017-02-10T15:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=292803"},"modified":"2017-02-10T15:00:18","modified_gmt":"2017-02-10T15:00:18","slug":"govt-still-holding-my-personal-car-agyenim-boateng","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/govt-still-holding-my-personal-car-agyenim-boateng\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t still holding my personal car &#8211; Agyenim-Boateng"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>James Agyenim-Boateng, a former Presidential staffer who worked at the office of the then vice president, says his personal car is still in the custody of the national security, after it was seized on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Agyenim-Boateng, even though he explained to the national security personnel\u00a0who were at his residence that he had returned all official vehicles assigned to him, the personnel insisted on taking away his personal car which he says he bought in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;IvV0oCKPFAf0Okf103TFHyvMcuMBHduO&#8221;]The confiscation of his car followed the setting up of a government task-force on February 3, 2017, to retrieve state assets unlawfully being held by individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Government has since claimed that, some 208 cars cannot be accounted for; a claim the previous administration has <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/09\/presidencys-claim-about-missing-cars-false-ndc\/\">rejected<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, Mr. Agyenim-Boateng said \u201c\u2026what the problem is that this State; the government of Ghana has been keeping custody of my\u00a0personal\u00a0vehicle since\u00a0Tuesday. That is the issue in contention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not sure at this point\u00a0there\u00a0is\u00a0anybody\u00a0saying I am keeping state property or I am keeping vehicles assigned to me\u00a0whilst\u00a0I was in office. I haven\u2019t been in office since the 7th of January and I haven\u2019t kept any such property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Legal action remains an open option for Mr. Agyenim Boateng though he says he didn\u2019t think he was \u201cready for all the\u00a0spectacle\u00a0and everything that comes with that [legal action].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Agyenim-Boateng narrated that: \u201cIt was Tuesday morning when\u00a0there was a bang on my gate so I went out to check and it turns out the person was from national security. So I opened and went out and I saw two Toyota land cruisers. I approached the vehicles\u00a0and it had three soldiers in uniform and a second vehicle which had been parked some meters away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 one of them said that they were from national security and they were looking for missing state vehicles. I said I don\u2019t keep missing vehicles. I don\u2019t keep stolen vehicles\u2026 I explained the issue; but it turned out that it didn\u2019t make any sense to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vehicles I kept, two of them, were assigned to me in\u00a0the name\u00a0of the office of the vice president because you know that is where I operated from. Those were\u00a0returned\u00a0to the same office\u2026 as I speak, those vehicles have been handed over. I don\u2019t have them in my custody and I don\u2019t\u00a0think\u00a0there is a problem with that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>It would be recalled that, before the task-force was formed, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, also had his f<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/02\/it-doesnt-matter-who-bought-my-5-cars-kofi-adams\/\">ive vehicles seized<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from his residence; but were later returned to him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018We\u2019ll resist attacks by Task-force on assets recovery\u2019 \u2013 NDC\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NDC has <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/04\/well-resist-attacks-by-task-force-on-assets-recovery-ndc\/\">condemned<\/a><\/strong><\/span> the manner in which government is carrying out the exercise, saying it is an endorsement of thuggery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By:\u00a0Delali\u00a0Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>James Agyenim-Boateng, a former Presidential staffer who worked at the office of the then vice president, says his personal car is still in the custody of the national security, after it was seized on Tuesday.
