Parliament will later today [Thursday] consider the report of the Appointments Committee on the first batch of President Akufo Addo\u2019s nominees for various ministerial portfolios.<\/p>\n

The report which was scheduled to be considered by the House yesterday [Wednesday] had to be delayed to enable the committee put finality to\u00a0it.<\/p>\n

The Committee in its report will recommend the approval or otherwise of the nominees by the House.<\/p>\n

After the approval, the designated ministers will be sworn in by the President to officially begin work as ministers.<\/p>\n

The 24-member Appointments Committee of Parliament hosted the first batch of the ministerial nominees to assess their preparedness to occupy the office between Friday, January 20th<\/sup> and Tuesday, January 24, 2017.<\/p>\n

Nominees who have already appeared before the committee include; Senior Minister nominee, Yaw Osafo-Maafo; National Security Minister nominee, Albert Kan-Dapaah; Finance Minister nominee, Ken Ofori-Atta, and Defence Minister nominee, Dominic Nitiwul.<\/p>\n

The others are, Attorney-General and Justice Minister nominee, Ms Gloria Akuffo, the Minister nominee for the Interior, Mr Ambrose Dery; Minister nominee for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama; Minister nominee for\u00a0 Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen; the Minister nominee for Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and the Minister nominee for Energy, Mr Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko.<\/p>\n

The Foreign Affairs minister nominee, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway; the Minister nominee for Education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, and the Minister nominee for Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu have also been vetted.<\/p>\n

\u2018Akufo-Addo nominates ministers\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following his inauguration as President, Nana Akufo-Addo named some 36 nominees expected to serve in his government as ministers.<\/p>\n

He has also upon his\u00a0assumption of office, made several other appointments to change the heads of various institutions including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Ghana National Petroleum Commission, National Communications Authority among others.<\/p>\n
