The Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2012 general elections, Boakye Agyarko, has described as criminal and scandalous, the\u00a0 airlifting of three million dollars to Brazil to pay the appearance fee of the Black Stars players.<\/p>\n
The government airlifted the money to pay the appearance fee of the Black Stars after the team threatened to boycott their match against Portugal.<\/p>\n
The team lost that match resulting in their elimination from the tournament.<\/p>\n
President John Mahama has since defended the decision to airlift the money to Brazil, stating that the arrangement, \u201cwhile unconventional, was necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
