{"id":28697,"date":"2014-06-30T13:43:56","date_gmt":"2014-06-30T13:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=28697"},"modified":"2014-07-02T11:01:15","modified_gmt":"2014-07-02T11:01:15","slug":"rise-of-teenage-pregnancy-in-ue-worrying-director-of-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/06\/rise-of-teenage-pregnancy-in-ue-worrying-director-of-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Rise of teenage pregnancy in U\/E worrying &#8211; Director of Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Upper East Regional Educational Directorate is calling for a system to check the increasing rate of\u00a0 teenage pregnancies in the area.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, the rise in the number of teenage pregnancies by Basic Educational Certificate Examination candidates is worrying and should be curbed.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi News, the Upper East Regional Director of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Zumakpe expressed deep worry about the situation going on in the Upeer East Region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBongo and Kehenekene are leading the pack with 24 pregnancies each. And we have a total of 83 pregnancies in the region for this year alone. And these are just JSS children!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He asked for funding to tackle the problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are just the confirmed cases .So it is a very serious issue.
