{"id":285136,"date":"2017-01-16T08:54:29","date_gmt":"2017-01-16T08:54:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=285136"},"modified":"2017-01-16T08:54:29","modified_gmt":"2017-01-16T08:54:29","slug":"annual-ug-new-year-school-and-conference-opens-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/01\/annual-ug-new-year-school-and-conference-opens-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual UG New year school and conference opens today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s President, Nana Akufo-Addo will be the special guest of honour at the opening of the 68th Annual New Year School and Conference of the University of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the conference is &#8220;Promoting National Development Through Agricultural Modernization : The Role of ICT.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the School of Continuing and Distance Education, under the College of Education, the New Year School and Conference\u00a0seeks to provide a common platform for experts and academics to deliberate on various issues of national concern and make recommendations for national development.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-285153\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/68TH-ANNUAL-NEW-YEAR-SCHOOL-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"68th-annual-new-year-school-2-1\" width=\"900\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 68th edition officially opens\u00a0today, January 16, 2017 at 10am and ends on 19th January 2017 at the Great Hall of the University.<\/p>\n<p>The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Abebe Haile Gabriel, the Country Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s conference will focus on using modern technology (ICT) to improve on agricultural production and create more jobs within the sector.
