In spite of the Black Stars disappointing showing at the World Cup , Coach, Kwesi Appiah is optimistic about the team’s performance as well as their future.

The team quietly arrived in the country quietly on Sunday afternoon.

The coach told journalists that though the team could not meet the expectations of Ghanaians, they still have a bright future.

He said, “looking at the performance, I believe that there are so many positives. But once you don’t win, no coach or nobody will be happy about it. But the most important thing is the performance was good just that its unfortunate that we didn’t make it to the next round.”

Even in his optimism, he expressed deep regret for their inability to play for their money’s worth,

“I’m really sorry we could not go much further Ghana is a football-loving country and everybody would have loved for us to go much further than we did, but unfortunately we could not make it. I’m looking at the positives, the performance of some of them, especially the young ones. They have more years ahead of them. And I believe that the future will be great for the country.”

Meanwhile, Captain Asamoah Gyan says the team will put the disappointing performance behind them and look to the future.

“We are professionals, sometimes you do well, and sometimes you do badly. What matters is we have to focus on the near future because first, we’ve got quality players; young players, who have got a bright future. Now the world cup is over for Ghana and we’ve got qualifiers so we have to focus on the qualifiers and make sure we do the right thing.”
