The United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland branch of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) is alleging that the murder of one of its key members, Hayford Akrofi was politically motivated.<\/p>\n
Akrofi, who was the vice chairman of the party\u2019s UK and Ireland branch was shot in his home at Amasaman in Accra last week by armed robbers.<\/p>\n
Until his death Mr. Akrofi was also Secretary to the Consultative & Coordinating Committee at the CPP headquarters in Accra.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the CPP\u2019s Director of Communications in the UK and Ireland, Nana Yaw Buobu said there is a sinister motive behind Akrofi\u2019s death.<\/p>\n He claimed that the manner in which Mr. Akrofi died \u201cdoesn\u2019t seem right because the Thursday before he died, he was on TV talking about GMOs [Genetically Modified Organisms] and before then, he\u2019s been on the GMO issue all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Buobu also stated that the late Akrofi was a strong advocate for good governance and since his arrival in Ghana; he was on several platforms \u201ctalking about how things are not working in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo we don\u2019t really accept that the fact that armed robbers will just go into somebody\u2019s house, kill him and not take anything. We won\u2019t accept that fact,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the leadership of the party is bemoaning the low level of security for citizens in the country and are therefore demanding tighter security checks ought to be put in place in neighborhoods to ensure optimal safety for Ghanaians.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
