Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) is to introduce PhD in Business Administration and PhD in Law, in its curriculum.<\/p>\n
Other subjects listed are PhD in Leadership, Joint Executive Masters Business Administration-Master of Laws (LLM), International Executive Masters Business Administration and LLM.<\/p>\n
Professor Franklyn Acheampong Manu, GIMPA Rector, who made this known on Saturday at the 14th Congregation of the institute in Accra, said the new degree programmes were in furtherance of its goals of making major contributions to national human resource development.<\/p>\n
He said for the 2013\/14 academic year, GIMPA enrolled 1,762 students in undergraduate degree programmes in Business School, Faculty of Law, School of Technology, and School of Public Service and Governance.<\/p>\n
Prof Manu said GIMPA\u2019s satellite campuses in Tema, Takoradi and Kumasi are building the capacity of students in the regions with a population of 230 and anticipate enrolling an additional 300 students for 2014.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that the institute biggest infrastructure development is the on-going installation of an Enterprise Resource Planning system, to integrate and support effective systems for managing student affairs, finances, payroll and other operations.<\/p>\n
Prof Manu said GIMPA has strengthened its quality of faculty with the recruitment of lecturers, while the faculties have been financially supported to present their research at international conferences in Europe, the USA, Central America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that in March 2014, the GIMPA Centre for Impact Investing (GCII), which was set up in 2013 through a partnership with the Venture Capital Trust Fund awarded a grant of 100, 00 dollars from the Rockefeller and the Tony Elumelu Foundations to support impact investing in the country.<\/p>\n
Prof Manu said the grant was endowed from the Africa Impact Economy Innovations Fund and the GCII. GCII was one of the seven winners selected from a highly competitive pool of hundreds of applications from across Africa.<\/p>\n
According to him, in June 2014, GIMPA signed a Memoranda of Understanding with France\u2019s Institute of National Administration to collaborate on public sector training and also received a delegation of faculty and students from Delaware State University in USA for collaboration and exchanges in areas of interest.<\/p>\n
Prof Manu stated that GIMPA has launched a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) programme, in collaboration with the Graduate Management Admission Council and Unique Enterprise.<\/p>\n
He explained that GMAT is a standardised admission examination used by more than 6,000 graduate programmes offered by about 1,500 universities or institutions in about 110 countries as part of the selection criteria for graduate admission.<\/p>\n
He said the system is useful in enhancing reasoning skills and in employment testing.<\/p>\n
Dr Christina Amoako-Nuama, Chairman of GIMPA Governing Council said the Institution encourages its graduates to effectively meet challenges of leadership and management not only in Ghana but globally.<\/p>\n
