{"id":279336,"date":"2016-12-24T08:05:07","date_gmt":"2016-12-24T08:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=279336"},"modified":"2016-12-24T08:05:07","modified_gmt":"2016-12-24T08:05:07","slug":"fire-service-controls-fire-at-accra-financial-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/12\/fire-service-controls-fire-at-accra-financial-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire service controls fire at Accra Financial centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>But for the timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Accra Financial Centre located at Ridge would have been engulfed by fire.<\/p>\n<p>The fire which affected the signage of the centre could not extend to other parts of the building following a prompt response by the GNFS which quickly deployed a team to the place.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-279339 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/accra-financial-centre-on-fire-2.jpg\" alt=\"accra-financial-centre-on-fire-2\" width=\"461\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Though the cause of the fire is not yet known, the Regional Commander for Greater Accra, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Ebenezer Simpson, said it could be as a result of an electrical fault.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-279336-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"352\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WhatsApp-Video-2016-12-24-at-9.56.24-AM.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WhatsApp-Video-2016-12-24-at-9.56.24-AM.mp4\">http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WhatsApp-Video-2016-12-24-at-9.56.24-AM.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>The fire started at 6:10am on Saturday from one of the signage on the eight-storey building.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-279337 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/accra-financial-centre-on-fire-6.jpg\" alt=\"accra-financial-centre-on-fire-6\" width=\"461\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Smpson told <strong>Citi News&#8217;<\/strong> Zoe Abu Baido that the security personnel on duty at the centre attempted controlling the fire but were unsuccessful and thus called on the fire service.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-279341 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/accra-financial-centre-on-fire-4.jpg\" alt=\"accra-financial-centre-on-fire-4\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said it took his men few minutes to get to the scene adding that they managed to put the fire under control.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt didn&#8217;t affect any property inside. Also, nobody was hurt because we managed to get everyone out of the building,\u201d Chief Fire Officer Simpson added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-279340 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/accra-financial-centre-on-fire-3.jpg\" alt=\"accra-financial-centre-on-fire-3\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This comes to three the number of fire incidents recorded in the country in the last few days.<\/p>\n<p>A gas explosion at La in the Greater Accra claimed about six lives while scores of others were injured.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Godwin A.
