{"id":276870,"date":"2016-12-15T06:00:39","date_gmt":"2016-12-15T06:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=276870"},"modified":"2016-12-15T06:00:39","modified_gmt":"2016-12-15T06:00:39","slug":"my-constituency-waiting-for-dams-1m-from-nana-addo-ndc-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/12\/my-constituency-waiting-for-dams-1m-from-nana-addo-ndc-mp\/","title":{"rendered":"My constituency waiting for dams, $1M from Nana Addo &#8211; NDC MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The newly elected Member of Parliament for Mion in the Northern Region, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, has urged his fellow National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs for the next Parliament to hold the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) accountable for all its promises.<\/p>\n<p>With some simmering tension within the NDC following its defeat in the 2016 general elections and ceding of the Majority in parliament, Mr. Aziz said the NDC must focus to effectively keep the NPP in check.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;GclnICoeKkaLDpvTgEfB9RyDLGfzKbSk&#8221;]\u201cI have about 202 villages in Mion, Nana Addo and the NPP promised one village, one dam. It is my expectation that by the end of Nana Addo\u2019s first term, I expect 202 dams in my constituency,\u201d he said on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Aziz further conveyed some skepticism of the NPP\u2019s major promises including the promise of $1 million dollars for every constituency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s see how they will be able to squeeze out 275 million dollars for every constituency every year when they are cutting taxes, not borrowing and abolishing taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking forward to a lot of goodies from Nana Addo and the NPP. At least, I know for sure that by December 2020, there would be a factor established and running in Mion. I would have gotten the 202 dams done,\u201d Mr. Aziz indicated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notable Nana Addo promises<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of plans to\u00a0industrialise\u00a0and transform the Ghanaian economy, the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that his government plans to help\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/19\/nana-addo-promises-1-district-1-factory-policy\/\">establish a factory<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in each of the 216 districts across the\u00a0country\u00a0if he wins the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo also\u00a0promised to establish\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/28\/nana-addo-pledges-1-village-1-dam-to-boost-agric\/\">one dam in every village<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the northern part of the country to boost agriculture through a\u00a0well-planned\u00a0irrigation policy and create\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/12\/ill-create-another-region-from-western-nana-addo\/\">another region<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0from the Western Region, should he emerge\u00a0winner\u00a0in the December polls.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo&#8217;s\u00a0promises have however been met by questions of feasibility and criticism from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the party largely accusing him of pandering for votes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By:\u00a0Delali\u00a0Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The newly elected Member of Parliament for Mion in the Northern Region, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, has urged his fellow National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs for the next Parliament to hold the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) accountable for all its promises.
