{"id":276670,"date":"2016-12-14T09:38:56","date_gmt":"2016-12-14T09:38:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=276670"},"modified":"2016-12-14T09:38:56","modified_gmt":"2016-12-14T09:38:56","slug":"christmas-buzz-missing-in-major-markets-in-accra-audio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/12\/christmas-buzz-missing-in-major-markets-in-accra-audio\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas buzz missing in major markets in Accra [Audio]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With barely two weeks to Christmas day it appears the buzz that usually surrounds the holiday season is missing this time round.<\/p>\n<p>A visit to some major markets in Accra show business activities are yet to pick up a week after the country&#8217;s general and parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n<p>Checks by <strong>Citibusinessnews.com<\/strong>\u00a0at the Dome market in Accra reveal that despite the usual hassle and bustle of the market, there is hardly any display of the usual Christmas goodies one would expect to find as the season approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the traders attributed the slowdown in activities on the elections but were confident the situation will change by next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSales have really picked up and I expect to record more sales in the coming days,\u201d one vendor stated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Click below to listen to full audio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/297843354&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In addition, the traders say they are less expectant of increase in prices of certain products like rice, oil, tin tomatoes among others around this period and into the festive season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe market is not too good but it has improved and I believe my sales will get better in the coming days. The prices of my goods are likely to remain the same,\u201d another asserted.<\/p>\n<p>A butcher also affirmed to <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> that the prices of his products are likely to remain stable for the period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true that Christmas is just around the corner but we are yet to see it reflect in our sales we however remain hopeful things will get better. I\u2019m not sure of changing the price of my goats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile sale of clothes which players an integral role for most people during the festive period appears to have picked up significantly.<\/p>\n<p>Some traders in clothes who spoke to <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> said they expect trading activities to pick up significantly in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow sales have picked up.
