Days after the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo was declared winner of the December 7 polls, some persons believed to be from his party have locked up an office within the Mampong Municipal Assembly.

[contextly_sidebar id=”aP9XDuyo9WrLLb2uQ7bfIyWTMO8w2RQd”]Speaking to Citi News, the Chief Executive of the Mampong Municipal Assembly, Nurudeen Hamidan explained that the alleged NPP thugs who stormed his office over the weekend in cars also made away with some items.

He therefore called on the leadership of the NPP to call its supporters to order before matters get out of hand.

“We have a constitution of the republic of Ghana and we have a transition system, and nobody can take the law into his hand. So long as I continue to be the MCE, I want to assure Ghanaians that I will do everything possible to maintain the peace here, at least during our tenure. It’s so sad and strange that this is a democratic process; it’s not a coup that has happened. We won’t sit down for this to happen. I believe that the leadership of NPP should come out, just as we are speaking to our supporters, we expect same, either than that, what is going to happen in this country won’t be good,” he added.

NPP supporters take over toll booth

The development comes barely a day after some persons also believed to be NPP supporters in Accra illegally took over the Tema Motorway toll booth on Monday.

They reportedly sacked the official designated toll collectors and were illegally taking the tolls themselves.

Stop attacking NDC supporters

The Police had earlier warned the NPP supporters to desist from such attacks or risk arrest and prosecution.

“The Police Administration wishes to caution those who are engaging in acts of vandalism and rowdism to desist, as Police officers who have been deployed to maintain law and order will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute those who break the laws of the land,” a statement from the Police added.
