Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has said he is confident the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo will emerge victorious in\u00a0today\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very confident, I don\u2019t talk 100 percent but I expect Ghana will give it to NPP this time,\u201d he said after casting his ballot at Dzorwulu\u00a0in Accra today, Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He further called for calm and admonished Ghanaians to eschew violence during the election process.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should all go about in an orderly and peaceful way. We are showing our thoughts and expectations it\u2019s not going to war, we don\u2019t need to be violent and truculent.\u201d<\/p>\n

About 15 million registered voters are voting to decide the next president to lead Ghana for the next four years.<\/p>\n

President John Mahama whose four-year term is ends\u00a0in January next year is seeking to be re-election and is facing stiff opposition from the New Patriotic Party\u2019s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n

Others in the \u00a0presidential race include Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP), Ivor Greenstreet, Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP), Dr. Edward Mahama, People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) and an independent candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah.<\/p>\n
