He has resided in the US for more than 20 years and is a regular teacher at prestigious universities such as Harvard, Cornell and Yale.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the US election, he vowed to throw away his green card \u2013 a permanent residence permit for the United States \u2013 and \u201cstart packing\u201d should Mr Trump win and now that has happened\u00a0he is sticking to his pledge.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FGoodEveningGhanaOfficial%2Fvideos%2F1277717415594301%2F&#038;show_text=0&#038;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have already done it, I have disengaged [from the United States]. I have done what I said I would do,\u201d the 82-year-old told the AFP news agency at a conference in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a horror of what is to come with Trump\u2026 I threw away the card and I have relocated, and I\u2019m back to where I have always been,\u201d reportedly meaning Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>He added that he would not discourage anyone from applying for a green card but, for him, Mr Trump\u2019s presidency signalled it was the right moment to leave.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s useful in many ways.
