{"id":273591,"date":"2016-12-02T09:21:21","date_gmt":"2016-12-02T09:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=273591"},"modified":"2016-12-02T09:21:21","modified_gmt":"2016-12-02T09:21:21","slug":"increased-competition-to-drive-down-cement-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/12\/increased-competition-to-drive-down-cement-prices\/","title":{"rendered":"Increased competition to drive down cement prices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana is expected to become self sufficient in cement production by the first quarter of 2017 with the construction of more cement factories across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Cement production in Ghana currently hovers around 6 million tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>The figure is expected to go up to 9.2 million tonnes in 2017 with the coming on board of more cement factories into the country.<\/p>\n<p>One of the latest to join in is CIMAF Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The company believes its production will boost competition in the cement industry and drive down the price of the product.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGhana now has more capacity to produce to feed Ghanaians more than required so we don\u2019t even need imported cement which comes with a lot of problems that we don\u2019t even know about,\u201d Sales and Marketing Director of CIMAF Ghana, Joseph Kobina Aboo told <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-66091 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/cimaf-2.jpg\" alt=\"cimaf 2\" width=\"684\" height=\"596\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The factory which is going to be entirely under Ghanaian management, created 1000 jobs directly and indirectly during its construction.<\/p>\n<p>It currently employs 200 people.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the more than 95% of Ghanaian workers are expected to provide continuity of the project for the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Anita Arthur\/citibusinessnews.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana is expected to become self sufficient in cement production by the first quarter of 2017 with the construction of more cement factories across the country.
