Students at the Junior High Schools will begin studying critical thinking as a subject under a People’s National Convention (PNC) government led by its presidential candidate, Edward Mahama.<\/p>\n
Dr. Mahama who is seeking to be president on December 7 said this at the GBC\/NCCE Presidential debates held in Accra today, Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Touching on what his government would do to improve education in Ghana, Dr. Mahama said he would adopt three ways to solve the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will do three things; first, introduce at JHS, SHS level\u2026the subject I call critical thinking which will allow students themselves to look at where they are going.\u201d<\/p>\n
Secondly, Dr. Mahama said he would introduce counsellors from kindergarten level up to tertiary to help shape and \u201cguide students in the line in which they have skills.\u201d<\/p>\n
The PNC presidential candidate also said he would introduce strategic scholarship schemes for brilliant but needy students.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to introduce a portfolio of scholarships in the form of bursaries, grants, loans so that those who are very highly intelligent and poor to secure a better future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Five candidates were present at the debate; the National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC), President John Mahama, the Progressive People\u2019s Party’s (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the Independent Candidate, Joseph Osei Yeboah; the PNC’s Dr. Edward Mahama, and the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP)\u2019s Ivor Greenstreet.<\/p>\n
