Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly; Alfred Oko Vanderpuye, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle; Zanetor Rawlings, among others.<\/p>\n<p>President\u00a0Mahama in a speech read on his behalf by the Health Minister said, \u201cwhat we are doing is to provide equipment in the new facilities that we have, so that our health professionals will be able to give off their best to the patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that, the location of the Hospital will provide &#8220;excellent accessibility and\u00a0disposability\u00a0to the public and would now provide tremendous\u00a0healthcare services to the population.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273118\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-7.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-7\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273120\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-9.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-9\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Supporters of the NDC were at the facility in their party colours, to hail President Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, for what they deemed as more evidence of his infrastructure developments, and proof that\u00a0he deserves a second term with the\u00a0general elections a week away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273176\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-13.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-13\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-18-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273182\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-18-3.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-18\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr.\u00a0Thomas Winsum\u00a0Anabah, outlined to <strong>Citi News&#8217;<\/strong> Caleb Kudah some of the key upgrades to the hospital noting that, the new facility consists of five edifices; including one for staff accommodation, one for the Anesthesia School, one for the mortuary, the utility building and the main facility.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273174\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-11.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-11\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_9063_800x533_800x533.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273153\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_9063_800x533_800x533.jpg\" alt=\"img_9063_800x533_800x533\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The main facility has an\u00a0emergency department which has been expanded from the initial six beds to 42-beds along with four theatres to cater for the\u00a0emergency facility.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/2df87dc6-06b5-4cc1-a2e0-8e1e86f845c5_800x567_800x567.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273147\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/2df87dc6-06b5-4cc1-a2e0-8e1e86f845c5_800x567_800x567.jpg\" alt=\"2df87dc6-06b5-4cc1-a2e0-8e1e86f845c5_800x567_800x567\" width=\"800\" height=\"567\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/4065878265485_477874253617-1-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-273196\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/4065878265485_477874253617-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"4065878265485_477874253617-1\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hospital\u00a0also has an oxygen unit where it\u00a0will produce its own oxygen;and a water reserve underground which could last for at least a week.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_273179\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-273179\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-17-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-273179 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-17-2.jpg\" alt=\"Medial Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr. Winsome Anaba\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-273179\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr.\u00a0Thomas Winsum Anabah<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-2-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273165\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-2-2.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-2\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The obstetric unit accompanying the new facility, comes with a 20-bed reception unit, 17 delivery suites, theatres and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to handle natal complications. The ICU of the hospital has 12 theatres and 36 beds.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on when the hospital will be ready to receive patients, Dr. Anaba expressed hope that patients could start benefiting from the new facility in January.<\/p>\n<p>The Greater Accra Regional Hospital is expected to have a capacity of 629 beds when it is completed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-20.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-273113\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Greater-Accra-Regional-Hospital-20.jpg\" alt=\"greater-accra-regional-hospital-20\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The original Ridge Hospital was a\u00a0191-bed facility, built in 1929, to provide healthcare for British nationals during the colonial era.<\/p>\n<p>The Greater Accra Regional Hospital was funded through a credit facility provided by the Export-Import Bank of United States for an amount of US$157,500,000 and HSBC Bank for an amount of US$92,500,000 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali\u00a0Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John\u00a0Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the first phase of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly the Ridge Hospital, although the facility will start receiving patients from January 2017.
