Employees of Airtel Ghana, the Global Carrier Award winner for Best CSR Initiatives, have showered over 1,400 pupils of the La Wireless Cluster of Schools in Accra with gift items leading up to the Christmas festivities.<\/p>\n
They donated \u201cSamaritan Boxes\u201d comprising gifts, toys, clothing, stationery and shoes to pupils from the nine basic schools that make up the La Wireless Cluster of Schools \u2013 one of Airtel Ghana\u2019s adopted schools.<\/p>\n
Airtel has over the years invested in the school providing infrastructure, teaching and learning materials. Recently, the company commissioned a fully stocked library and ICT Center for the Cluster and launched a coding club to empower and provide an avenue for pupils interested in coding to fully harness their potential.<\/p>\n
The Samaritan boxes where sponsored by Airtel employees, through donations matched by the company.
\nCommenting on the donation, Airtel Ghana\u2019s Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, Hannah Agbozo said, \u201cAirtel\u2019s vision for all the schools under its award winning School Adoption Programme is to ensure improvement in both infrastructure and the human potential.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year we commissioned a fully equipped Library and ICT Lab to provide a platform for practical lessons and engagement.<\/p>\n
This donation, spearheaded by our employees, is to give the pupils in the Cluster an exciting and memorable celebration during the Christmas festivities\u201d.<\/p>\n
Maame Dufie Cudjoe, Airtel Ghana\u2019s CSR Manager added that, \u201cOur annual Christmas parties for schools are events that go beyond a corporate act of goodness. Our employees are very much involved in the planning and execution process because they derive a lot of joy and fulfilment putting smiles on the faces of these young minds. From Adaklu in the Volta region to Himankrom in the Western region, we are always eager to travel the length and breadth of the country to meet and surprise pupils from our adopted schools with gifts especially at this time of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n
All the head teachers led by the circuit supervisor of the cluster, Mr. Cyril Opoku, expressed their gratitude to Airtel Ghana for the continuous support.<\/p>\n
Under Airtel\u2019s school-adoption initiative, the company works closely with the Ghana Education Service to improve the quality and delivery of education to children in underprivileged communities.<\/p>\n
