{"id":272039,"date":"2016-11-26T20:14:19","date_gmt":"2016-11-26T20:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=272039"},"modified":"2016-11-26T20:14:19","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T20:14:19","slug":"ec-denies-discovery-of-thumb-printed-ballots-in-ketu-south","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/ec-denies-discovery-of-thumb-printed-ballots-in-ketu-south\/","title":{"rendered":"EC denies discovery of thumb printed ballots in Ketu South"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has denied speculations within a section of the media that some thumb printed ballots have been found in the Ketu South District of the Volta Region.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission said there is no \u201ciota of truth in the claims\u201d widely circulated on social media.<\/p>\n<p>According to the commission, its preliminary checks showed the information was false and must be disregarded.<\/p>\n<p>Rumours were rife on Saturday that seals to some ballot bags had been broken and thumb printed ballot had been found in the bags.<\/p>\n<p>The Founder of Danquah Institute, and a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko who made the allegation also added that officials of the Electoral Commission were not cooperating on the matter.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FECGOVGH%2Fposts%2F1231400436921563%3A0&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"627\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But in a rebuttal, the Electoral Commission (EC) via its Facebook page said, no such thing had happened in the Ketu South constituency.<\/p>\n<p>With almost a week to the country\u2019s general elections on December 7, many people have raised allegations including bloated ballots, broken seals and thumb printed ballots, most of which the EC has denied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Six ballot boxes missing in Western Region\u2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, six ballot boxes meant for the upcoming polls in the Western Region have gone missing.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by the Takoradi chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
