The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has waded into the seeming confusion in the opposition New Patriotic Party\u00a0(NPP), saying the party risks self-destruction if it does not end the infighting.<\/p>\n
According to the NDC, the current national executives owe its members a duty to remain a viable opposition party.<\/p>\n
Security men working at the NPP headquarters clashed with new security guards appointed by the new executives.<\/p>\n
The clashes took place on Monday at the party\u2019s National Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.<\/p>\n
The leadership of the party has been undergoing power struggle battles with some alleging splits between the two leading presidential aspirants.<\/p>\n
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the NDC General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia condemned the behaviour<\/span> of some members of the\u00a0party<\/span> describing it as undemocratic.<\/p>\n Mr. Nketia<\/span> said the party has turned on itself because it has no opposition to battle.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you practice against your opponents for a very long time, those things become your habit and when you don\u2019t have opponents to practice, you practice it against your own people,” Mr.\u00a0Nketia<\/span>\u00a0added.<\/p>\n Mr. Nketia recalled that similar things happened when a coup d\u2019 etat<\/span>\u00a0was sponsored by the forefathers of the NPP led to \u00a0the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) being chased out of the system and banned from elections.<\/p>\n He advised the party to take actions that conform to the norms and labour<\/span> rules of Ghana.\u201cIf they [NPP]\u00a0want to sack any worker in Ghana it must be according to the norms and labour<\/span> rules of Ghana.<\/p>\n While advising the party\u2019s executives to restore order in their party,\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Nketia<\/span>\u00a0also charged\u00a0the incoming secretaries and party chairmen \u201cnot to allow others to fall in the trap that they have fallen into or managed to dodge.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has waded into the seeming confusion in the opposition New Patriotic Party\u00a0(NPP), saying the party risks self-destruction if it does not end the infighting.
