{"id":271184,"date":"2016-11-24T10:07:35","date_gmt":"2016-11-24T10:07:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=271184"},"modified":"2016-11-24T10:07:35","modified_gmt":"2016-11-24T10:07:35","slug":"mahama-a-novice-in-democracy-nana-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/mahama-a-novice-in-democracy-nana-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama a novice in democracy &#8211; Nana Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m_4765244527061019782yMail_cursorElementTracker_1479968996637\">\n<p>The presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has described President John Mahama, as a novice in Ghana&#8217;s democracy\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing supporters at the Upper West regional campaign rally in\u00a0Wa, Nana Akufo-Addo said, &#8220;the president doesn&#8217;t understand what democracy is all about, democracy means that the power in our country is in the hands of you the people of Ghana. You are the sovereign; you are those who hold the sovereign power of our nation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If I am seeking on your behalf to exercise that power for your presidency, do I not have to plead with you?&#8221; He quizzed in\u00a0reaction\u00a0to comments made by the president that he is going round begging for votes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adult education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo said apart from the Free Education that will give equal opportunities to Ghanaian children to secure their future, an Akufo-Addo government will &#8220;revive the *Adult Education programme* to make it possible for those of us who are\u00a0grown-ups\u00a0but for some reason do not have the \u00a0opportunity to go to school.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This, he said, will help the nation move forward.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/82462160-68c3-4524-86dd-870e7c930b26.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-271192\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/82462160-68c3-4524-86dd-870e7c930b26.jpg\" alt=\"82462160-68c3-4524-86dd-870e7c930b26\" width=\"600\" height=\"395\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Inclusive governance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NPP presidential candidate reiterated his promise of an inclusive government.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a\u00a0programme\u00a0of national redevelopment that is going to touch all parts of our country and respect everybody; abled or disabled, marginalized and those included. We are going to make a new\u00a0Ghana where\u00a0everybody is included in the forward march of the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;God-willing when we come, we are going to build a new Ghanaian civilization, which will be the light of Africa and the wonder of the world,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/a8446f65-0ca6-4378-98e8-52e83dc71737.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-271191\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/a8446f65-0ca6-4378-98e8-52e83dc71737.jpg\" alt=\"a8446f65-0ca6-4378-98e8-52e83dc71737\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tribal politics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo said tribalism should not be entertained in our body\u00a0politics but\u00a0that which is based on policies.<\/p>\n<p>He said while the NPP\u00a0have\u00a0good plans to develop Ghana, &#8220;others are talking tribal language, they want to send us back; setting tribe against tribe, setting north against south&#8221;. Is that what we want in Ghana?&#8221;\u00a0he quizzed.<\/p>\n<p>He described that as &#8220;reactionary and politics of yesterday&#8221;.
