{"id":271003,"date":"2016-11-23T13:50:52","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T13:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=271003"},"modified":"2016-11-23T13:50:52","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T13:50:52","slug":"govt-to-construct-30m-e-waste-facility-at-agbogbloshie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/govt-to-construct-30m-e-waste-facility-at-agbogbloshie\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t to construct $30M e-waste facility at Agbogbloshie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency are set to commission the construction of a recycling facility\u00a0at Agbogbloshie in the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n<p>Estimated at $30 million for the first phase, the facility is expected to recycle all waste electrical and electronic equipment to final products in an environmentally sound manner, relieving the people of Accra and its environs, specifically Agbogbloshie community of toxic pollutants generated from the burning of e-waste.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;MGEWRcZn2q4J7XVmELQYFHdaVSTunLpi&#8221;]According to Mr. Francis Bullen Gavor, Project Consultant, \u201cOne of Africa\u2019s Biggest E-waste Dump- Agbogbloshie in recent times has been cited among the top ten most polluted sites in the world. It is therefore important to find innovative ways to manage the e-waste generated in our various communities.
