The Deputy Commander of the Upper West Regional Police Command has donated an air conditioner and a plasma television set to the Regional Police Clinic in Wa to aid the work of the clinic.<\/p>\n
Nana Asomah Hinneh, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said the items were his personal contribution to ensuring that the new Regional Police Clinic\u00a0 thrives to serve the society.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe survival of the clinic is very important to the entire Police force and the general public, particularly, the people of the Upper West Region. Even if we don\u2019t benefit directly from it today, it must thrive to benefit our children and those who succeed them,\u201d he said after presenting the items to the Regional Police Commander, ACP Kwasi Mensah Duku, on the premises of the clinic.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Commander, with more than 20 years in the Police service, including a stint in Liberia, said he was moved by the idea of a regional police clinic in Wa upon his recent transfer to the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt we have to support the project to work so that the intentions of those who dreamt and started it will be fulfilled to the benefit of the larger society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Regional Commander ACP Duku said the clinic was established as a back-up to the under-resourced Regional Hospital, which he said needed to be relived of some of the pressure it shouldered currently.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is our hope that the public will seek the services of the clinic for the treatment of minor medical issues to reduce the pressure on the regional hospital,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The medical officer in-charge of the clinic, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Henry Asamoah Asare, a physician assistant, said the air conditioner would help to preserve the drugs of the clinic under the right temperatures given the extreme weather conditions in the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n
The Regional Police Clinic in Wa has been in operation for two months with an eight-member staff strength that includes three nurses, a ward assistant and a dispensary assistant.<\/p>\n
Apart from caring for the staff of the police service, it is also open to the public.<\/p>\n
