The Sekondi Takoradi National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) coordinator\u00a0\u00a0Nana Bilson says he was assaulted by Metro Guards a year ago and is now demanding justice.<\/p>\n
According to him, he reported the incident to the Sekondi Takoradi Mayor, Captain Rtd. Anthony Cudjoe, his Presiding Member Mohammed Ali and the former Regional Minister Ebenezer Teye Addo but is yet to hear from them.<\/p>\n
Narrating his ordeal to\u00a0Citi News, <\/b>Mr Bilson said Captain Cudjoe asked him to accompany one city guard after a heavy downpour last year which flooded many parts of the metropolis.<\/p>\n
His task was to relocate a refuse container near the Axim Road in Takoradi.<\/p>\n
According to him on getting to the area, he saw the city guard already extorting monies from drivers. He queried the city guard of his actions but the city guard beat him up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe guard was there taking monies from drivers. I asked him and he said it was a routine work. He was bargaining with them saying if I take you to court you will pay GH80.00 but if we settle it I will take GH50.00. I queried him and all he did was to beat me mercilessly destroying my glasses, my dress, everything on me\u201d. Mr. Bilson narrated.<\/p>\n
He explained that he first reported the issue to the Takoradi Market Circle Police station but was later asked by the mayor to settle the matter \u2018administratively\u2019.<\/p>\n
He said the head of the assembly\u2019s disciplinary committee who is also the presiding member; Mohammed Ali was tasked to\u00a0investigate the matter but did not communicate anything to him afterwards.<\/p>\n
\u201cI waited and waited and waited he did not mind me. So I took it to the regional minister\u201d. Nana Bilson explained.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0former Western Regional Minister, Mr. Ebenezer Teye Addo constituted a committee to investigate the matter.<\/p>\n
But according to the metro coordinator, he was then called for the matter to be resolved but did not see any member of the committee upon arrival at the regional coordinating council.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026.I sat there for more than three hours and nobody addressed my issue\u201d. He said.<\/p>\n
He says\u00a0he is afraid\u00a0to carry out his role as a coordinator\u00a0 his safety might be at risk.<\/p>\n
