The Electoral Commission has created a special office to address complaints by political parties and independent candidates taking part is in this year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n
This comes on the back of complaints by some political parties in Ghana about the EC’s performance and decisions.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by Head of Communications at the EC, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu said the new office will afford \u201crepresentatives and independent candidates the opportunity to meet members and key officers of the Commission (without prior appointment) to get their questions about the elections answered or concerns addressed.\u201d<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”cjDWzfoSw911Nc5xlRNEMCUhLpwbctLg”]The special walk-in-service according to the commission will operate on Tuesday\u2019s and Thursdays from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n
Bashing from political parties<\/strong><\/p>\n The commission has come under barrage of attacks from political parties who accuse it of scheming to rig the election in favour of another party in Ghana.<\/p>\n Some including the Progressive People\u2019s Party, (PPP), National Democratic Party (NDP) among others also sued the commission for disqualifying their flagbearer from the 2016 presidential race.<\/p>\n The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has also recently raised issues about the printing of pink sheets in the country as well as omission of the party\u2019s initials on some ballot papers to be used for the upcoming general elections.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the commission is hopeful that its new special-walk-in-service will help address issues bothering stakeholders in the election.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Walk-In Service will take place at the same time simultaneously in all Regional and District Offices of the Commission across the country. The Walk-in Service, the first of its kind, is in line with the Commission\u2019s determination to increase its engagement with the key stakeholders of the electoral process. It will complement other initiatives being implemented by the Commission to increase access and transparency of the electoral process.
