{"id":267891,"date":"2016-11-13T16:32:41","date_gmt":"2016-11-13T16:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=267891"},"modified":"2016-11-13T16:32:41","modified_gmt":"2016-11-13T16:32:41","slug":"police-failed-to-stop-ndc-attack-john-boadu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/police-failed-to-stop-ndc-attack-john-boadu\/","title":{"rendered":"Police failed to stop NDC attack &#8211; John Boadu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has accused the Nima Divisional Police command of failing to intervene when members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) besieged and attacked the residence of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo\u00a0on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> earlier reported violent clashes between supporters of the NPP and those of the National Democratic Congress at the Nima residence of the flagbearer.<\/p>\n<p>Stones and bottles were found around the residence moments after.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-267892\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG-20161113-WA0045-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"img-20161113-wa0045\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear what may have sparked the attacks, but according to the NPP, it was a deliberate orchestration by the NDC \u201cto bait the NPP into responding in similar fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Boadu said, the police only reported to the scene after the supporters of the NDC had left.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-267846\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/02203be1-101b-429a-a048-b6a5047f5491.jpg\" alt=\"02203be1-101b-429a-a048-b6a5047f5491\" width=\"768\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said the police did not come in to prevent the NDC supporters from attempting to forcefully invade the premises of the NPP flagbearer.<\/p>\n<p>He told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, \u201cthis thing happened at the Nima Police station, close by. They [Police] couldn\u2019t even send people to come and defend their own people who were with the NDC. So after our intelligent and bold security people had quelled the difficulty, you want to enter, enter the house to do what?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-267844\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/897b0727-7663-4014-a33b-bd12c0b1da1c.jpg\" alt=\"897b0727-7663-4014-a33b-bd12c0b1da1c\" width=\"768\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the midst of the difficulty, in the heat of the event, no police man to the aid of the people who wanted to forcefully enter into the house of the flagbearer. We need them, they are part of our system. They are supposed to ensure that every Tom, Dick and Harry is secured in our country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the way they are behaving and from the feedback that our people are getting, it may get to a point that we may not need the Police.
