{"id":267360,"date":"2016-11-11T16:57:24","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T16:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=267360"},"modified":"2016-11-11T16:57:24","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T16:57:24","slug":"tarkwa-nsuaem-candidates-commit-to-peace-ahead-of-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/tarkwa-nsuaem-candidates-commit-to-peace-ahead-of-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Tarkwa Nsuaem candidates commit to peace ahead of elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parliamentary candidates aspiring for the Tarkwa Nsuaem seat have \u00a0pledged to protect \u00a0unity and peace ahead of the December Polls.<\/p>\n<p>The candidates, Seth Kwame Dzokoto of the NDC, George Mireku Duker of the NPP, Eric \u00a0Asiedu Seedof Simpey of the PPP and the CPP\u2019s John Kwakye Justice all declared that, neither they nor their followers will do anything to obstruct peace and tranquility ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/24695b1a-1fd5-4a02-b991-1873ea0d17d5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-267362\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/24695b1a-1fd5-4a02-b991-1873ea0d17d5-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"24695b1a-1fd5-4a02-b991-1873ea0d17d5\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was after a possible chaotic situation was prevented by the police and organizers of a parliamentary debate in Tarkwa on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Confusion erupted during the debate when an NDC sympathizer asked a question that offended members of the NPP.<\/p>\n<p>That brought the debate programme organized by the NCCE in partnership with the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers CODEO with Citi Fm as its media partner to a halt.<\/p>\n<p>For over 15 minutes, participants were engaged by the Ghana Police personnel and organizers to restore order at the debate hall.<\/p>\n<p>After calm returned to the hall, each of the candidates in unequivocal terms condemned the question and the act that followed and pledged their commitment at maintaining law and order ahead of election. Even though some orderliness had been restored, a plea for support foiled the tension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donation foils tension<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orderliness took a different twist when the parliamentary candidate for the NPP, George Mireku Duker went into the audience to bring up a paralyzed child and held her up in his chest, pleading for financial support to aid a planned surgery. The mother of the child got her utmost surprise in her life when Mireku Duker handpicked her child and pleaded financial support from the audience when she had come as a participant of the debate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/0a3db002-6f8b-4127-919f-8a6c77f9f36b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-267460\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/0a3db002-6f8b-4127-919f-8a6c77f9f36b-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"0a3db002-6f8b-4127-919f-8a6c77f9f36b\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/0a3db002-6f8b-4127-919f-8a6c77f9f36b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-267460\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/0a3db002-6f8b-4127-919f-8a6c77f9f36b-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"0a3db002-6f8b-4127-919f-8a6c77f9f36b\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mireku Duker instantly donated Gh1,000 cheque. It was followed by another GH1,000 from Seth Kwame Djokoto. That triggered other inflows. In the end, the child and her mother have had Gh3,095 out of the 5,500 required to pay for the surgery.<\/p>\n<p>The donation had successfully quelled off the tension in the room to the one of sympathy.
