{"id":267056,"date":"2016-11-10T15:35:35","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T15:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=267056"},"modified":"2016-11-10T15:35:35","modified_gmt":"2016-11-10T15:35:35","slug":"odododiodio-troubles-police-invite-nii-lantey-for-questioning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/odododiodio-troubles-police-invite-nii-lantey-for-questioning\/","title":{"rendered":"Odododiodio troubles: Police invite Nii Lantey for questioning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Police have invited the Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye for questioning on the clashes that occurred between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Jamestown on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The clashes reportedly left two persons critically injured and led to the arrest of three persons who have since been granted bail by the police.<\/p>\n<p>In a <strong>Citi News<\/strong> interview, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Effia Tenge,noted\u00a0that reports from the clashes alleged the involvement of Mr. Vanderpuye, hence the invitation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_256193\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-256193\" style=\"width: 602px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/1433170449.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-256193\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/1433170449.jpg\" alt=\"ASP Effia Tenge \" width=\"602\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-256193\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ASP Effia Tenge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere have been several reports about his involvement in the said disturbances and as a result of that, police have made efforts in inviting him [Mr. Vanderpuye] for him to also give a further statement,\u201d ASP Tenge explained.<\/p>\n<p>Aside the invitation of the MP, ASP Tenge also said investigations will continue as the police suspected more culprits were in hiding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the said the incident, the police made arrest of certain young men that we believe were involved in said disturbances. \u00a0The police investigation indicated that they were however implicated and as a result of that the police has so far granted them bail and as and when we need them, we won\u2019t hesitate in calling them to also answer questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe however believe that those who were actually involved have gone into hiding, but she arrested \u201cwe have intensified our investigation to ensure that those people are arrested,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allegations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the clashes, Mr.\u00a0Vanderpuye alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Odododiodio, Nii Lante Bannerman,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/09\/ill-give-bannerman-war-if-nii-lante-vanderpuye\/\">masterminded the attacks<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on NDC supporters that escalated \u00a0into the clashes \u00a0a rally at Jamestown in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Mr Bannerman had organised some young men to attack his team members with guns, machetes and other weapons.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_266593\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-266593\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8229.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-266593\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8229.jpg\" alt=\"Nii Lante Bannerman\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-266593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nii Lante Bannerman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On the other hand,\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Vanderpuye was also\u00a0accused of physical assault by his NPP contender.
