“You have done some remarkably bold things. You have dared to do so a lot of interesting things and in so doing, you’re making the world a better place. As you prepare to become Ashesi alumni, do not forget the satisfaction of daring to act and making your dreams real” he said.

“The quality of graduates who have been through Ashesi are comparable to the top tier anywhere in the world, and this is not just because of what they studied here, but who they have and will become.” Kwaku Sakyi-Addo also spoke about how well the school has moulded its alumni over the past ten years.

“You are among a select few who have come this far because only 80% of children who enroll in basic school stay through to the end. And of the 80, fewer than 20% complete secondary school. And only 2% were subsequently enrolled in a tertiary institution,” He emphasized the truth that the graduating class are the privileged few who have been given the opportunity to make a difference in the country and the continent.

Let us not forget the holistic education we’ve had. To quote a favourite lecturer of ours, ‘start where you are with what you have and above all, be the change you want to see in the world.”
