The legal tussles that have dominated the news ahead of the elections in recent times could have been avoided if the Electoral Commission (EC) had adopted a dialogue oriented approach,\u00a0Former President, John Agyekum Kufour has stated.<\/p>\n
The Commission\u00a0had initially disqualified 13 out of 17 flagbearers from the presidential race for filing presidential nomination forms with anomalies.<\/p>\n
But legal challenges from a number of the political parties saw 3 of the disqualified aspirants make their way back<\/a><\/strong><\/span> into the presidential race.<\/p>\n In reference to the court cases surrounding the Commission’s disqualification of the presidential aspirants, Mr. Kufuor\u00a0said the legal battles could have been prevented if the EC\u00a0had engaged political parties with\u00a0alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.<\/p>\n
