{"id":266837,"date":"2016-11-10T07:34:28","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T07:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=266837"},"modified":"2016-11-10T07:34:28","modified_gmt":"2016-11-10T07:34:28","slug":"odododiodoo-troubles-adjiri-blankson-urges-npp-calm-ahead-of-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/odododiodoo-troubles-adjiri-blankson-urges-npp-calm-ahead-of-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"Odododiodioo troubles: Adjiri Blankson urges NPP calm ahead of polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Odododiodioo constituency in the Greater Accra Region have been cautioned against engaging in acts of violence as the December 7 elections beckon.<\/p>\n<p>This is after\u00a0supporters of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the area, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye and the NPP\u2019s Parliamentary Candidate, Nii Lante Bannerman, clashed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0former Metropolitan Cheif Executive (MCE) of the the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and NPP patron, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, urged the NPP supporters to put peace first in the name of victory at the polls.<\/p>\n<p>He said,\u00a0\u201cwe believe in peace because we know we are winning an election come 7<sup>th<\/sup> December. We have warned our people to be cautious because the moment you engage in violet act, the police will arrest you and keep you indefinitely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The clashes in the constituency, led to the arrest of three NPP members who were eventually released on Wednesday. Prior to that, some supporters of the NPP had besieged the Jamestown Police station demanding the release of the men who were arrested after clashes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/84e4284c-55f7-459f-96c9-aaa68a28d556.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266727\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/84e4284c-55f7-459f-96c9-aaa68a28d556-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"84e4284c-55f7-459f-96c9-aaa68a28d556\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But Mr. Blankson suggested some level of bias on the part of police because there were no reports of arrests on the side of the NDC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we are saying is that if you have arrested three people from our party and you fail to arrest any from the other side then justice and fair play have not been exhibited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allegations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The incumbent MP, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, alleged that the NPP\u2019s Nii Lante Bannerman <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/09\/ill-give-bannerman-war-if-nii-lante-vanderpuye\/\">masterminded the attacks<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on his supporters on Tuesday [November 8] that led to clashes when his team had ended a rally at Jamestown in the constituency that evening.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Mr Bannerman had organised some young men to attack his team members with guns, machetes and other weapons.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_266593\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-266593\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8229.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-266593\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8229.jpg\" alt=\"Nii Lante Bannerman\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-266593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nii Lante Bannerman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But Mr.\u00a0Vanderpuye was also\u00a0accused of physical assault by his NPP contender.
