The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Mahama, has said he is targeting 56 percent of the votes in the December polls.<\/p>\n
President Mahama thus called on NDC supporters\u00a0to avoid complacency and to flock to the polling stations, to ensure that his target of amassing 56 percent of the votes in the elections is realised.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”WQ1lKCORoNgs3TfC9jw9MDtdYkcZDZj3″]Addressing the electorate at Tepa in the Ahafo Ano Constituency in the Ashanti Region as part of his campaign tour, President Mahama said \u201cI am here to remind you that on the 7th of December 2016, come out in your numbers and vote massively for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis time around, I am pleading with you. I know by the grace of God we are winning. Let us not be complacent and think that because we are winning, that is it. But this time, I want the victory to be resounding so that what happened in 2012 wouldn\u2019t repeat itself.\u201d<\/p>\n
President Mahama also posited that, if he is able to garner a resounding victory at the polls, the election result would not be disputed by the opposition.<\/p>\n
He referenced the election petition of 2012, where the New Patriotic Party (NPP), went to the Supreme Court, praying it to\u00a0overturn\u00a0the EC’s declaration of President\u00a0Mahama as the winner of the 2012 elections on the basis of infractions and irregularities found on results sheets.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the result was 50.7 percent, they thought it wasn\u2019t so much so they decided to contest the results in court,\u201d President Mahama noted.<\/p>\n
