{"id":266042,"date":"2016-11-07T18:45:59","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T18:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=266042"},"modified":"2016-11-07T18:45:59","modified_gmt":"2016-11-07T18:45:59","slug":"nii-lante-vanderpuye-holds-free-medical-screening-for-aged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/nii-lante-vanderpuye-holds-free-medical-screening-for-aged\/","title":{"rendered":"Nii Lante Vanderpuye holds free medical screening for aged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, on Saturday November 5, organized a free medical screening exercise for the aged in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266059\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nii-Lantey-7-1024x575.jpeg\" alt=\"nii-lantey-7\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The exercise saw over four thousand elderly people being diagnosed and treated for various health conditions.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0the MP, the programme was organised to celebrate the aged and give them a sense of belonging in society.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266057\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nii-Lantey-5-1024x575.jpeg\" alt=\"nii-lantey-5\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Philip Nii Lartey, Nii Lante Vaderpuye, who doubles as Ghana\u2019s Sports Minister, said this year\u2019s event had been an improvement over what had been done in previous years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266056\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nii-Lantey-4-1024x575.jpeg\" alt=\"nii-lantey-4\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He noted that, he had received support from the Gender Minister, Nana Oye Lithur, to provide food for all those who were participated\u00a0in the exercise.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266055\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nii-Lantey-3-1024x575.jpeg\" alt=\"nii-lantey-3\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year is exemplary because I had the support from Ministry Of Gender And Social Protection, I also got the support from NDC medical outreach team. The attendance was overwhelming; we were expecting just about two thousand five hundred people; but according to the doctor\u2019s record; we had close to four thousand one hundred people above the age of 65,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266054\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nii-Lantey-2-1024x575.jpeg\" alt=\"nii-lantey-2\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He added that, before the health screening exercise, the elderly were taken on a tour of the national capital, Accra.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-266053\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nii-Lantey-1-1024x575.jpeg\" alt=\"nii-lantey-1\" width=\"620\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He noted that \u201cthe most significant part of the event was when they were taken round Accra to see the new Accra. They visited the museum, Kwame Nkrumah circle and other places.
