Two\u00a0 tractors were donated by EXIM Bank to two farmers during this year\u2019s farmers’ day celebration.<\/p>\n
The event, which was held at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region saw 39- year old Ariku Martin Akudugu from the Upper East Region ,who was first runner up for this year\u2019s best farmer, pick up a brand new tractor.<\/p>\n
Mr Samuel Abiyaga from Builsa North who won National Lives Stock Farmer of the year also got a new tractor from Exim Bank Ghana.<\/p>\n
EDAIF repealed as Exim Bank\u00a0 has been a key donor in supporting farmers and the celebration of farmers’ day over the years.<\/p>\n
In an interview with acting CEO of Exim Bank, Dr. Osei Baffour, said EDAIF started with a mandate of improving agriculture and agro processing hence the need to reward famers during the annual celebration.<\/p>\n
Dr Baffour also noted that EDAIF, now Exim Bank Ghana will remain committed to its usual support to farmers.<\/p>\n
The theme of this years farmers day: “Agriculture; A Business Response to\u00a0 Economic Growth\u2019\u2019 is in line with the promise of the mandate of EXIM Bank.<\/p>\n
This according to the Chief Executive means an even better and wider scope of support for farmers and other areas of their mandate on entrepreneurial initiatives, technical as well as advisory services for farmers which is aimed at changing perception on farming.<\/p>\n
Dr. Baffour further noted the EXIM Bank will not compete with commercial banks but will fill gaps that are left by commercial banks, hence will not be taking deposits from customers.<\/p>\n
This means, EXIM Bank can borrow from donors and other agencies that have interest in the businesses that they do.<\/p>\n
Dr. Barfour thanked organizers of this year’s program.<\/p>\n
