President John Mahama is optimistic the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will capture at least 13 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region in addition to the one million votes the party is vying for.<\/p>\n
He expressed confidence in the party’s performance in the region as he set his target ahead of the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”ZnK1z9zYe9jyhFXVtVj4ytpI0Jhw3wN3″]Addressing NDC supporters at Asawase after a health walk in the town as part of his four-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region,\u00a0President Mahama said, “the NDC has only four seats in this region but per my calculations, I am hopeful that we would be able to wrestle nine more to make it 13.”<\/p>\n
The President also reminded that the NDC had adequately provided for the people of the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n
“You would attest that we have done a lot of developmental projects across the country. Talk of roads, water hospitals and schools. Every region is enjoying the Good works especially Kumasi.\u201d<\/p>\n
“This is the second largest city in Ghana and a commercial one too. So we are constructing one of the biggest markets for you to attract a lot of traders to this region,\u201d President Mahama added.<\/p>\n
