Ghana may have to invest more to meet the potential increased passenger volumes via long haul flights to and from the country.<\/p>\n
This is the suggestion from some international airlines operating in the country.<\/p>\n
According to the Country Manager for Air France KLM, Dick Van Niewwenhuyzen, the increased infrastructure will build confidence in Ghana\u2019s aviation industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cI see new departure terminals being built; also Ghana recently launched its new cargo centre and I believe the country is undertaking these infrastructure because it sees growth, opportunities to expand the business. I think the market will remain same but the cake will be shared differently among participants in the industry,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
The country\u2019s quest to become an aviation hub has also attracted more international and regional flights as they consider Ghana\u2019s regime as favoring their business operations.<\/p>\n
Barring any last minute hitch, Air France KLM will also commence its Accra \u2013 Paris route in February next year.<\/p>\n
The announcement also comes weeks after RwandAir also disclosed to Citi Business News plans to expand its fleet and embark on long haul flights to Europe and Asia to tap into the benefits of the increasing air traffic along that route.<\/p>\n
Dick Van Newenhuizen who spoke to Citi Business News <\/strong>at the sidelines of a media interaction to launch the airline\u2019s flight destinations, further opined that the increased competition will enable customers get value for money.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will create possibilities for Ghanaians and for business people to fly more\u2026it is good for the country and for business relations.
