The Supreme Court’s seven member panel presided over by Justice Sophia Adinyira, will deliver its verdict on the suit filed by Ghana\u2019s Electoral Commission (EC) challenging a high court judgement, which overturned its disqualification of the Flagbearer of the Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum on November 7, 2016.<\/p>\n

The EC is asking the Supreme Court to review the High Court\u2019s judgement that quashed its\u00a0disqualification of\u00a0the PPP\u2019s presidential\u00a0aspirant.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”tsdHDtA7sSzDXCWbCjieEkTNtaId6SA2″]The EC rejected Dr. Nduom\u2019s nomination claiming the number of subscribers to his forms did not meet the requirements of Regulation 7 (2) (b) of CI 94, [the law regulating the conduct of the 2016 elections].<\/p>\n

The Commission said one of his subscribers endorsed the form with different signatures in both portions of the nomination form, raising questions as to the legitimacy of one or both signatures.<\/p>\n

But lawyers of the PPP argued that, the EC did not give them the opportunity to correct the errors on the nomination forms.<\/p>\n

EC loses against Hassan Ayariga<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile an Accra High Court has ordered the EC<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to give the Flagbearer of the All People\u2019s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, an opportunity to correct errors on his nomination form.<\/p>\n

The court presided over by Justice Babara Charway said the EC acted unfairly in disqualifying Mr. Ayariga. The judge also indicated that, the commission should have been more patient in dealing with the matter.<\/p>\n
