A Financial Analyst, Sydney Casley Hayford has described intentions by the Bui Power Authority to construct a Bui City resort as a necessary investment.<\/p>\n
The Minority in Parliament on Thursday accused the Authority of spending three\u00a0 million dollars on a Golf Park.<\/p>\n
The Authority denied the Minority in Parliament\u2019s accusations<\/p>\n
Rather, the Authority revealed that it has plans of setting up a Bui City resort\u00a0but has not received funds for construction yet.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi FM\u2019s<\/strong> News Analysis Programme, The Big Isssue<\/i>, Mr. Casley Hayford said the facility will boost economic development and serve as a recreational centre for both foreigners and Ghanaian citizens<\/p>\n \u201c We need a lot of tennis courts, we need to have a whole academy of football for that area.We need such facilities for economic development,\u201d Mr. Casley Hayford explained.<\/p>\n Speaking on the same platform, the Executive Director of Imani Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe added that the facility will boost Ghana\u2019s Tourism Industry.\u201cApart from being recreational, I think it is an investment,\u201dMr. Cudjoe said.<\/p>\n But in a rebuttal,a Legal Practitioner, Yaw Oppong criticised the decision by the Authority, describing it as a waste of resources.<\/p>\n Yaw Oppong questioned the rationale for the intended construction, asking whether it would serve the needs of residents in the area or just the employees of the Authority.<\/p>\n \u201cThey [Bui Power Authority] are going to build a Bui City, are they going to construct this Golf Course for those residents or for just the workers \u2026?, \u201d Lawyer Oppong quizzed.<\/p>\n He further wondered whether the money that will be allocated to the Authority for the construction will serve its purpose or will be used for other purposes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n
