{"id":264191,"date":"2016-11-01T18:35:03","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T18:35:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=264191"},"modified":"2016-11-01T18:35:03","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T18:35:03","slug":"mahama-criticism-of-npp-promises-hypocritical-nana-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/11\/mahama-criticism-of-npp-promises-hypocritical-nana-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama criticism of NPP promises hypocritical &#8211; Nana Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo has taken a swipe at President John Mahama for describing NPP&#8217;s pledge to extend the service period for\u00a0army recruits from 25 years to 30 years\u00a0as a political gimmick.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nana Akufo-Addo, President Mahama, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, has no moral right to question his pledges since he has reneged on most of his promises.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;gOmELVJloJxIHliwcF6oy1fmVyulrOX0&#8243;]President Mahama\u00a0also described this particular promise was a mere afterthought on the NPP\u2019s part as this proposal did not feature in its 2016 manifesto.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking at a rally at Gomoa Akoti in the Central Region, the NPP Flagbearer suggested President Mahama was being hypocritical with his criticism of the retirement age promise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President says our pledge to increase the retirement age of recruits to 30 years as stated by the Sub-Committee Chairman on Defense and Interior, Dominic Nitiwul, is a ploy for vote buying and he is asking Ghanaians not to listen to us,\u201d Nana Akufo-Addo said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/30476666771_1cf68362b1_k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-261855\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/30476666771_1cf68362b1_k.jpg\" alt=\"Mahama\" width=\"600\" height=\"413\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He also added that he never reneges on his promises. We were all in this country when we were promised the one time national health insurance premium payments. Have they done that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You promised to build 200 community day Senior High Schools. Your own Finance Minister in October and November stated publicly that only nine had been built. Is that a feature of an honest person,\u201d the NPP Flagbearer quizzed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;My promises are not election\u00a0gimmicks&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earlier on the campaing trail, Nana Akufo-Addo has said he and his NPP were above making promises as a mere political gimmick.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo assured Ghanaians his\u00a0promises to make Ghana a better place for all was not just a campaign message to win votes.<\/p>\n<p>He said to the people of Hohoe in the Volta Region during a rally that\u00a0the NPP had a competent team to execute all the promises made on the campaign trail Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notable Nana Addo promises<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of plans to industrialize and transform the Ghanaian economy, Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that his government plans to help <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/19\/nana-addo-promises-1-district-1-factory-policy\/\">establish a factory<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in each of the 216 districts across the country, if he wins the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo also\u00a0promised to establish <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/28\/nana-addo-pledges-1-village-1-dam-to-boost-agric\/\">one dam in every village<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the northern part of the country to boost agriculture through a well planed irrigation policy.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP Flagbearer also\u00a0promised to create <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/12\/ill-create-another-region-from-western-nana-addo\/\">another region<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from the Western Region, should he emerge winner in the December polls.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo\u2019s\u00a0promises have however been met by questions of feasibility and criticism from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the party largely accusing him pandering for votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo has taken a swipe at President John Mahama for describing NPP&#8217;s pledge to extend the service period for\u00a0army recruits from 25 years to 30 years\u00a0as a political gimmick.
