Residents in the Krowor Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have indicated they will vote for a parliamentary candidate they deem development-oriented and not those who just make promises.<\/p>\n
According to them, they are in dire need development and would therefore ensure they vote into office someone they are certain can help help improve their conditions of living.<\/p>\n
They made this intention known at a constituency debate for parliamentary candidates in the Krowor Constituency organised by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), the Centre for Development (CDD-Ghana Democratic) and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from Citi FM.<\/p>\n
Some of the residents who spoke to Citi News mentioned unavailability burial space, poor sanitation conditions and late disbursement of funds for the physically challenged persons as some of the challenges they want urgently addressed by the next Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n
The Debate<\/strong><\/p>\n Candidates present at the event were The governing National Democratic Congress\u2019 Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Fanny Amartey of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) and Hugo Huppenbauer, of the Progressive People\u2019s Party.<\/p>\n The New Patriotic Party Candidate, Elizabeth Afoley Quaye was absent for unknown reasons.<\/p>\n In the area of education, the CPP candidate assured electorates of free elementary education and the provision of libraries, while the PPP promised to ensure the effective implementation of the constitutional right to Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education.<\/p>\n The NDC candidate, however, pledged support for any directive geared toward quality pre-school, secondary and tertiary education with particular attention to technical and vocational education in the constituency.<\/p>\n On youth unemployment, candidates\u2019 responses generally cut across career orientation and job creation for both skilled and non-skilled youth, investments in master craftsmanship, creation of youth centres and encouraging entrepreneurship among the youth.<\/p>\n Moderators for the programme included Reverend Fred Degbe, former Chairman of the National Peace Council, Lucille Hewlette Annan, Greater Accra Regional Chairperson of the NCCE and Dela Sky of Citi FM.<\/p>\n Krowo Constituency<\/strong><\/p>\n The Krowor constituency covers areas such as Teshie and Nungua.<\/p>\n The NDC had earlier elected Emmanuel Borketey as its parliamentary candidate but he stepped down due to ill health, making way for Agness Momo Lartey to contest.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Residents in the Krowor Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have indicated they will vote for a parliamentary candidate they deem development-oriented and not those who just make promises.
