{"id":263004,"date":"2016-10-29T12:16:52","date_gmt":"2016-10-29T12:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=263004"},"modified":"2016-10-29T12:16:52","modified_gmt":"2016-10-29T12:16:52","slug":"hannah-yeboah-of-beacon-school-wins-2016-write-away-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/hannah-yeboah-of-beacon-school-wins-2016-write-away-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Hannah Yeboah of Beacon School wins 2016 Write-Away contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hannah Yeboah of the Beacon International School in Peduase has emerged winner of Citi FM\u2019s 2016 Write-Away contest.<\/p>\n<p>For her prize, Hannah Yeboah\u00a0received\u00a0a cash prize of GHc5,000 while her school was given GHc10,000.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole Chinery and Goloh Lily Eli both from the Sap\u2019s School in Accra placed second and third respectively.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-263011 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/winners-of-write-away-contest-2016-5-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"winners-of-write-away-contest-2016-5\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They also received GHc4,000 and GHc3,000 for placing second and third.<\/p>\n<p>The grand finale of the the\u00a0Write-Away contest was held\u00a0at the\u00a0Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>All of the top 20 shortlisted contestants in the competition also received GHc500 each, from Moneygram.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-263008 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/winners-of-write-away-contest-2016-2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"winners-of-write-away-contest-2016-2\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This was the eleventh edition of the annual writing contest which challenges the creativity and writing skills of children between the ages of 10 and 14.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and their wards were at the Holiday Inn Hotel, to witness the event.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-263007 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/winners-of-write-away-contest-2016-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"winners-of-write-away-contest-2016-1\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Write-Away competition<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Write-Away Contest is an annual competition that is geared towards encouraging children to read and to write.<br \/>\nThe contest is for pupils between the ages of 10 and 14 years. This year, the contestants were expected to write a story that ended with the phrase, \u2018Fortune favors the bold.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-262977 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Write-away-2016-underway-4.jpg\" alt=\"write-away-2016-underway-4\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The deadline for the submission of entries was September 30, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Citi FM received thousands of entries nationwide and shortlisted the scripts to 20.<\/p>\n<p>After the list was put out, these children came to the offices of Citi FM where they were interviewed, after which 10 finalists were selected.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-262979 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Write-away-2016-underway-6.jpg\" alt=\"write-away-2016-underway-6\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Write-Away Contest is an annual competition that is geared towards encouraging children to read and to write.<br \/>\nThe 2016 Write Away Contest is sponsored by Moneygram and the Students Loan Trust Fund.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-262988 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/write-away-2016-contest-3.jpg\" alt=\"write-away-2016-contest-3\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p>Photos by: Philip Ashon\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hannah Yeboah of the Beacon International School in Peduase has emerged winner of Citi FM\u2019s 2016 Write-Away contest.
