The Ministry Of Health has denied allegations it is attempting to remove the Rector of the College of Health And Wellbeing in Kintampo, Dr. Emmanuel Adjase from post.

This is in reaction to a story published by the Daily Guide newspaper on Wednesday alleging that the Ministry is attempting to remove the Rector.

The paper also reported that the chiefs of Kintampo were angry with the Ministry.

But the Health Ministry in a statement clarified that non of the allegations are true.

Below is the full press release

The Ministry of Health (MoH) will like to react to the news story in the Daily Guide issue of Wednesday, June 18, 2014(p.13) with the above headline as follows:

Firstly, it is not true that the Ministry of Health is attempting to remove the Rector of the College of Health and wellbeing, Kintampo, Dr. Emmanuel Teye Adjase.

Secondly, it is also untrue that the disturbances were as a result of the lecturers not being part of the panel of interviewers for this year’s admission process into the college.

Thirdly, it is however true that the outgoing Minister of Health, Madam Hanny Sherry Ayittey, has in a letter dated June 10, 2014 directed Dr. Adjase to proceed on leave pending investigations into the recent disturbances in the school by lecturers

The MOH would want the chiefs in Kintampo in particular and the public in general to note that the lecturers of the college had leveled quite a number of allegations against the rector and to be fair to all the parties, the MoH felt it prudent to ask him to proceed on his accumulated leave to allow for investigation to be conducted without any impediments.

We view the description of the decision of the Ministry to request the Rector to proceed on his accumulated leave for investigation to commence by the Acting President of the Traditional Area, Nana Abobrim Yaw Dompo II, and Nana Effah Guakuro IV, Kronkorhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Area as “hasty” to be unfortunate because. the Ministry had received a signed petition from the lecturers listing all their grievances before taking the decision.

The MoH is not oblivious of the contributions of Dr. Adjase to the academic and infrastructural development of the college but that alone cannot be used as a yardstick to exonerate him from the allegations made against him but a free and fair investigation by a ministerial committee.

We wish to assure the chiefs in Kintampo and all Ghanaians that the investigations will be free, fair and transparent to both parties to ensure that a conducive environment is created and maintained in the college for excellent administration and academic work to gone on.
