In August an earthquake killed about 300 people south of Visso.<\/p>\n<p>There are few reports of serious injuries but bad weather has been hampering efforts to assess the damage.<\/p>\n<p>Visso is 70km (45 miles) from Amatrice, which was badly damaged in the 6.2 magnitude quake in August.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape no-caption body-width\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"responsive-image__img js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/5046\/production\/_92105502_italy_quake_visso_update.png\" alt=\"Map\" width=\"464\" height=\"261\" data-highest-encountered-width=\"624\" \/><\/span><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape has-caption full-width\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"responsive-image__img js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef-1.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/15D6A\/production\/_92105498_036076529epa.jpg\" alt=\"People walk past rubble in Villa Sant'Antonio village, near Visso, Marche region, Italy, on 26 October 2016\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" data-highest-encountered-width=\"624\" \/>Older buildings are reported to have collapsed in several villages<\/span><\/figure>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s earthquakes were felt across central Italy, including in the capital, Rome, where buildings shook and doors and windows rattled.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tens&#8221; of people were hurt, but only four people suffered serious injuries, Italy&#8217;s civil protection chief Fabrizio Curcio said.<\/p>\n<p>The second earthquake was considerably stronger than the first and numerous smaller aftershocks have occurred. Two churches are destroyed and many houses [have] fallen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In Campo, near Norcia in the Umbria region, the late 15th century San Salvatore church collapsed. The second, at 21:18 local time, was 2km northwest of Visso, at a depth of 10km.<\/p>\n<p>These tremors were linked to the August earthquake, Italian officials said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Aftershocks can last for a long time, sometimes for months,&#8221; AFP news agency quoted Mario Tozzi of Italy&#8217;s National Institute of Geophysics as saying.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two strong earthquakes have hit central Italy, damaging buildings and injuring dozens of people.
