The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has urged healthy election campaigns devoid of bitter and aggressive rhetoric as the political parties woo voters across the country.<\/p>\n
Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamoah, Deputy Director of the Commission in-charge of Operation, said the expectation was that the candidates would tell voters about their plans to bring progress and transform their living conditions.<\/p>\n
What the people wanted to hear was how the parties would tackle their needs if voted in, he added.
\nHe counseled against vilification of political opponents, outright lies and deception and said these were not the right things to do.
\nHe was addressing a day\u2019s sensitization workshop held in Kumasi for representatives of the various political parties, civil society organizations, women and youth groups.<\/p>\n
The goal was to assist deepen their understanding of the electoral laws and the need to pull together to safeguard the peace.<\/p>\n
Mr. Akuamoah reminded all to uphold the political parties\u2019 code of conduct and accept to use the appropriate channels to resolve grievances.<\/p>\n
He said given the crucial nature of the coming election, the NCCE is \u00a0collaborating with the Electoral Commission (EC) to assist Ghanaians to have better understanding of the electoral processes.<\/p>\n
They were focusing more effort on reducing spoilt and rejected ballots in the December 7 elections.<\/p>\n
Mr. Edmund Premoh, a member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC), advised the youth to avoid being part of any evil agenda to cause confusion, before, during and after the polls.<\/p>\n
