Some members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are pushing for the expulsion of the party’s former Constituency Chairman for Central Tongu, David Hoezame.

Mr. Hoezame has sued the leadership of the party at the High Court for breach of the party’s constitution.

The Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Central Region, Kofi Karikari Bondzi explained that Mr. Hoezame has totally disregarded the NPP’s constitution by proceeding to court without making use of the party’s internal structures.

“He has contravened the constitution of the party that he seeks to protect. Article 3 VII says if you have a problem with the party, you need to exhort the head structures in charge of addressing grievances. And it is very strange that with this flimsy excuse, Mr. Hoezame rushed to the law court instead of the party headquarters in asylum down,” he remarked.

Mr. Hoezame in his statement of claim says the Paul Afoko-led executives did not re-constitute the National Council of the party before calling for a Council meeting two weeks ago.

But in the defense of the national executives of the NPP, Mr Bondzi rather questioned the loyalty of Mr. Hoezame because seeking redress in the law court says otherwise.

He was of the opinion that “naturally, logically, anyone who says he loves the party and has identified an anomaly will go to the party for an explanation. And based on the explanation the party would give him or her will use that as a basis to seek regress in law court. The law court is not an NPP headquarters!”
