{"id":261814,"date":"2016-10-25T20:22:51","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T20:22:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=261814"},"modified":"2016-10-25T20:22:51","modified_gmt":"2016-10-25T20:22:51","slug":"ag-prays-court-to-examine-woyome-over-judgement-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/ag-prays-court-to-examine-woyome-over-judgement-debt\/","title":{"rendered":"AG prays court to examine Woyome over judgement debt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Attorney General&#8217;s Department has filed a suit praying the court to orally examine Alfred Agbesi Woyome over the controversial judgement debt saga.<\/p>\n<p>The suit which was signed by the \u00a0Registrar of the Attorney General , James Mensah\u00a0 said \u201cAlfred Agbesi Woyome is hereby ordered to appear before this court on Thursday 10<sup>th<\/sup> day of November 2016 at 9 am in the forenoon to be examined orally on Oath by the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Defendant\/Judgment\/Creditor\/Applicant herein, to ascertain whether the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Defendant\/Judgement\/Debtor has any property or other means of satisfying the Judgement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It further stated that \u201cthis order is to be served personally on the within-named Alfred Agbesi Woyome.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_124599\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-124599\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-124599\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/18714786831_e677785d10_z.jpg\" alt=\"AG Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/18714786831_e677785d10_z.jpg 640w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/18714786831_e677785d10_z-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-124599\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">AG Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Alfred Woyome was paid \u00a251 million for helping Ghana raise funds to construct stadia for purposes of hosting the CAN 2008 Nations Cup. However an Auditor General\u2019s report released in 2010 said the amount was paid illegally to the NDC financier.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court in 2014 ordered Mr Woyome to pay back \u00a251 million fraudulently taken from the state\u00a0after Mr Martin Amidu, a former Attorney General challenged the legality of judgment debts paid the businessman, Waterville, and Isofoton.<\/p>\n<p>Following delays in retrieving the money, the Supreme Court judges unanimously granted the Attorney-General clearance to execute the court\u2019s judgment ordering Mr Woyome to refund the cash to the state.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Pressure Group, Occupy Ghana has lauded efforts\u00a0by the Attorney-General&#8217;s Department\u00a0to retrieve\u00a0GH\u00a251 million owed \u00a0Ghana by Alfred Woyome.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Attorney General&#8217;s Department has filed a suit praying the court to orally examine Alfred Agbesi Woyome over the controversial judgement debt saga.
