The Ghana Police Service has invited the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Bugri Naabu, because of potentially incendiary comments he made ahead of the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n
Bugri Naabu is reported to have revealed on a campaign platform in Nalerigu that the NPP will employ some macho men to guard ballot boxes in the December polls.<\/p>\n
In a Citi News<\/strong> interview, the Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, said Mr Naabu\u2019s comments were concerning enough to merit a police inquiry.<\/p>\n He warned that, \u201con the day of elections, it is only the police or its sister agencies who have the authority, who are going to man the various polling stations\u201d as it was it was improper for any individual to call for private security to\u00a0police the ballot boxes.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a serious concern and we think such a comment needs further investigations and that is why we are inviting him.
