A former constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Hoezame has sued the party for violating the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n
A writ filed at the Accra High Court by Mr. Hoezame<\/span> is seeking to compel the NPP to follow the procedure outlined in its constitution to reconstitute its National Council.<\/p>\n He also wants the 6th December date for the election of the presidential candidate declared null and void.<\/p>\n Mr. Hoezame<\/span> in his Statement of Claim described himself as a fully paid up card bearing member of the NPP from \u20181992 up to and including 2014. He added that he was still a card bearing member of the party.<\/p>\n He further explained that the Paul Afoko-led executive has breached the NPP constitution by purporting to call for<\/span> and take part in the deliberations of the National Council without reconstituting it after they were elected into office in April 2014.<\/p>\n Joined to the suit is the National Chairman of the Party, Paul Afoko. Here are some of Mr. Hoezame<\/span> (Plaintiff) claims’ against the Defendants:<\/p>\n (i) \u201cA declaration that announcement<\/span> of the 6th day of December, 2014 as date<\/span> for the election of the 1st Defendant\u2019s presidential candidate as Null and Void;<\/p>\n (ii) An Order directed at the Defendants to restore the Constitution of 1st Defendant Party<\/span> to its original state and to duly and properly set up the National Council in accordance with the provisions of the 1st Defendant\u2019s Constitution.<\/p>\n (iii) An Order restraining the 2nd Defendant from further breach of the 1st Defendant\u2019s Constitution.<\/p>\n (iv) Costs.\u201d<\/p>\n The Defendants have eight days to enter an appearance.<\/p>\n But Citi News<\/strong> investigations have revealed that the party\u2019s planned National Council meeting scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled.
