{"id":259425,"date":"2016-10-18T15:00:31","date_gmt":"2016-10-18T15:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=259425"},"modified":"2016-10-18T15:00:31","modified_gmt":"2016-10-18T15:00:31","slug":"ec-trains-journalists-in-northern-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/ec-trains-journalists-in-northern-region\/","title":{"rendered":"EC trains journalists in Northern Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Electoral Commission (EC) has begun series of capacity building workshops for journalists in the Northern Region.<\/p>\n<p>This forms part of a well structured system meant to rebuild public confidence on the EC&#8217;s preparedness to conduct free, fair and transparent elections on December 7.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-259430 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-2.jpg\" alt=\"ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-2\" width=\"768\" height=\"497\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Northern Regional EC Director, Bruce Ayisi explained that the workshop sought to equip Journalists with the right electoral terminologies used during elections.<\/p>\n<p>He implored the participants to avoid unpardonable errors in their reportage on elections coverage to safeguard the nation&#8217;s enviable democratic credentials.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Ayisi commended the media in the region for being in constant touch with the EC on election matters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-259432 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-3.jpg\" alt=\"ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-3\" width=\"780\" height=\"577\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said the EC would continue to work with the media as partners in development regarding the conduct of elections at all levels.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Northern Regional chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Caesar Abagali admonished the EC staff to open their doors to the media.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-259434 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-5.jpg\" alt=\"ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-5\" width=\"769\" height=\"623\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He decried the unfriendly behaviour of some top EC officials who often ignored Journalists call for information on the electoral processes.<\/p>\n<p>Caesar Abagali tasked the media to be guided by the cardinal principle of checking, cross and double checking their facts to avoid sensationalism particularly on elections coverage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-259429 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-1.jpg\" alt=\"ec-trains-northern-region-journalists-1\" width=\"774\" height=\"772\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also admonished the media to give fair and accurate coverage to all the competing political parties.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Electoral Commission (EC) has begun series of capacity building workshops for journalists in the Northern Region.
