{"id":25931,"date":"2014-06-19T11:04:39","date_gmt":"2014-06-19T11:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=25931"},"modified":"2014-06-19T11:04:39","modified_gmt":"2014-06-19T11:04:39","slug":"8-more-bodies-retrieved-from-volta-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/06\/8-more-bodies-retrieved-from-volta-lake\/","title":{"rendered":"8 more bodies retrieved from Volta Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Eight more bodies have been retrieved from the Volta Lake, in the boat accident that occurred near Tokroanu in the Krachi-East District last Saturday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This brings to 18 the number of bodies retrieved from the lake so far.<\/p>\n<p>Ten bodies were retrieved on June 14, while eight others were retrieved on June 16.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-three of the passengers on board were rescued, but nine have still not been found.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Krachi-East District Commander of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Jordan Quaye, 19 adults and four children were rescued after the disaster struck last Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty people, comprising 30 adults and 20 children, were on board when the boat struck a tree stump and capsized.<\/p>\n<p>They were said to be travelling from Ayafi-Battor to Kissiekope, near Tokroanu when the accident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>The dead bodies have been deposited at the Worawora Evangelical Presbyterian Hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Graphic Online<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight more bodies have been retrieved from the Volta Lake, in the boat accident that occurred near Tokroanu in the Krachi-East District last Saturday.
